What is Occupational Therapy?
Occupational therapy helps your child develop the tools essential to complete everyday tasks. Our occupational therapists believe that improving a child's physical, cognitive, sensory, and motor skills, we can encourage a sense of accomplishment, and improve overall self-esteem.
Occupational therapy can help children with their daily occupations such as:
ā
-
Sensory processing and regulation skills
-
Academic skills including such as writing and copying notes, drawing, and using scissors
-
Self-Care skills including brushing teeth, dressing and feeding oneself
-
Playing and cooperating with peers
ā
OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY
Promoting independence in the daily routines of life instills a sense of freedom and confidence in your child. Our Occupational Therapists bring their expertise to the table to create a collaborative and enjoyable session that targets both sensory processing and fine motor development.
What Does an Occupational Therapy Session Look Like?
We incorporate play into our occupational therapy sessions in order to keep your child motivated, entertained, and focused. We believe that by encouraging your child's individuality, imagination and creativity the best results are achievable. We personalize each session to best serve each child as an individual rather than using a cookie cutter approach. Every child is beautifully unique. Our methods include puzzles, games, physical exercise, interactive toys, drawing, and more. Our goal is for your child to look forward to their sessions!
ā
Our occupational therapists travel to wherever your child is the most comfortable whether that be at home, school, or child care. This makes Eastside Therapy Services unique!

Safe and Sound Protocol
What is the Safe and Sound Protocol?
ā
The Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) is an acoustic vagus nerve stimulator developed by Dr. Stephen Porges based on his Polyvagal Theory. The purpose of this auditory intervention is to help your clients access a physiological state conducive to well-being, positive engagement with others, and growth in learning and therapy.
ā
By helping to access this calm and grounded state, the SSP promotes a neural platform for health, growth and restoration in patients experiencing the following challenges:
Anxiety
Inattention and Focus
Auditory sensitivities
Behavioral Regulation and Resilience
Physical Coordination and Balance
Reading and Auditory Processing
Sleep
Speech and Language
Social and emotional difficulties
Trauma and PTSD
Stressors that impact social engagement
And many more
ā
This tool has been used to treat patients experiencing difficulties with emotional control, behavioral organization, and hearing and auditory sensitivities.
ā
The SSP is an adjunct therapy meant to be used in combination with and to enhance existing treatment programs, so integrating into your clients’ treatment plans should be simple. Once patients are able to enter a regulated state of safety and calm by listening to the treated music served by the SSP, they become more receptive to other effective therapies.
ā
This program can be administered in-clinic, at home, or remotely through our digital delivery platform. (Integrated Listening Systems, 2022.)
